STOP, Don't Panic, Think
These are three key aspects which will help you at this point.

  • STOP
    Most damage is incurred when users in a mode of panic try to help themselves but due to lack of specialist training make matters worse.  STOP, don't do anything to your computer or media until you have spoken to a specialist.  One of our staff will be happy to provide the best procedure from where you are.  Do not install any software or move files around on your media, this may affect the ability for trained personnel to retrieve data for you.
  • Don't Panic
    Panic stops you from thinking and reasoning about your current problem.  It causes irrational responses from you and prevents you from achieve your goal (e.g. recovering your data).
  • Think
    Think about who is best positioned to help you with your current problem, the charges they wish to levy and how much the data is worth to you or your business.  This will help you make a sensible and reasoned decision.

FREE Basic Analysis
We provide FREE specialist analysis to find out what the problem is and how it must be solved.  We recognise that end users are not best placed to make this decision, and benefit from clear advice.  The media is then categorised according to the three key categories and pricing provided.

No charges without prior authority
We recognise that trust is important and must be earned.  We do not proceed with any chargeable work until you have provided us with clear authorisation.

No Additional Damage
During all the work that we carry out we can ensure that no additional damage is inflicted on your media at any stage, nor warranties affected.

ASPAN Solutions Ltd and Ontrack follow all required procedures to assure absolute security while recovering data from damaged and unreadable computer media.  Ontrack have also consecutively won the U.S. Department of Defense James S. Cogswell Award for outstanding security achievement.

Data Recovery Categories
Your media will be categorised into the following categories:

  • Category 1 - Standard Recovery
    90% of all data recovery jobs are dealt with in this section.  This category caters for problems such as:
    • File Deletion
    • Media Reformatting
    • Operating System Corruption
    • Media Format Corruption
       
  • Category 2 - Advanced Recovery
    2.5% of all data recovery jobs are dealt with in this section.  This category requires an advanced analysis to determine if the data can be retrieved involving proprietary methods, which incurs a charge.  This caters for problems such as:
    • Basic hardware failures for media with no valid warranties
       
  • Category 3 - Advanced Recovery for Mechanical Failures
    This category requires an advanced analysis to determine if the data can be retrieved involving proprietary methods using specialist equipment and specialist dust free environments, which incurs a charge.  7.5% of all data recovery jobs are dealt with in this section.  This caters for problems such as:
    • High urgency work
    • Top Security Requirements
    • All non-MS O/S Recoveries
    • Basic hardware failures for media with valid warranties
    • Mechanical Failures

Due to the specialist nature of the work involved and/or to ensure no warranties are affected we hand this work over to our partner company Ontrack, who are probably the best data recovery company in the world.  By definition this is a more costly solution provided by the best trained specialists.

The following manufacturers have granted authorisation to Ontrack to open the seal on any of their hard drives without voiding the manufacturer's warranty:
Fujitsu, IBM, Maxtor, Quantum, Samsung, Seagate, Western Digital

How do I proceed?

  • Contact us on 0845 456 9630, email recovery@aspansolutions.co.uk or complete our enquiry form.
  • A Data Recovery Service Representative gathers information and assesses your situation.
  • You package and send the media to us, or we arrange a courier to collect the media.
  • After receiving the media, our Data Recovery Engineers perform the FREE basic analysis to provide you with details of which category the media is listed in and the cost or range of costs involved.
  • Our Data Recovery Engineers temporarily overcome the problems in order to access the data and perform the recovery.
  • Your recovered data is backed up to the media of your choice; CD, DVD, Tape, Hard Drive, NAS server.
  • Your original media and recovered data is sent back to you for restoration.
